Reading Roots

Laying the Groundwork for Reading!

Reading Roots introduces young preschoolers (3-4 years) to the earliest building blocks of reading through playful, hands-on activities. Ideal for children who are ready to participate in structured, adult-led tasks, this class is designed to instill confidence in young learners and foster joy and excitement around literacy.

In this class, children will:

  • Learn about rhyming words and counting syllables

  • Practice naming and identifying 8-10 high frequency letters (both uppercase and lowercase)

  • Explore the sounds those high-frequency letters make through games, movement, and songs

  • Enjoy rich, interactive book reading that builds print awareness, vocabulary, comprehension, and a love of stories

  • Practice recognizing their name in print and noticing other meaningful print in their environment

  • Strengthen pre-writing foundations by tracing, writing, and playing with early lines through multisensory activities

Reading Roots is currently offered privately and as an enrichment class at select private schools.
